Rocky Mountain Power Wattsmart® Rebates for Salt Lake City Businesses
Most Salt Lake City businesses are served by Rocky Mountain Power, whose Wattsmart® Business program pays for a large share of qualifying commercial LED lighting upgrades. The Utah program was updated effective September 21, 2026, so it pays to work with a contractor who keeps up with the current rules. Sun Bright LED estimates your incentive up front and handles the paperwork for you.
- Express lighting incentives: Most retrofit projects are paid per watt of LED lighting installed and can cover up to 70% of the cost of qualifying LED lighting.
- Small and Medium Business Express: Eligible small and medium businesses can receive tiered incentives that reach up to 75% of project cost.
- Lighting controls: Controls-ready fixtures and networked lighting controls can earn additional incentives, either at installation or as a later upgrade.
- Pre-approval: Projects with incentives of $10,000 or more must be pre-approved before equipment is purchased or installed. We take care of this step.
Incentive details last verified November 2, 2026. Rates and eligibility change, so confirm current amounts on the Rocky Mountain Power Wattsmart Business lighting page before starting a project.

- Rebate paperwork: We prepare and submit the incentive application, including pre-approval when it is required.
- Installation: Our licensed crews install after hours or in phases so your business keeps running.
- Closeout: We submit the final documentation so your incentive gets paid, and we back the work with our warranty.

More Questions from Salt Lake City Businesses
How much of my LED project will Rocky Mountain Power pay for?
It depends on the project and your business size. Express lighting incentives can cover up to 70% of qualifying LED lighting costs, and the Small and Medium Business Express offer can reach up to 75%. We estimate your incentive during the free audit.
Do I need approval before starting my lighting project?
Projects with incentives of $10,000 or more need pre-approval from Rocky Mountain Power before you buy or install equipment. Smaller projects don't require it, but we still recommend it.
How long does a commercial LED retrofit take?
Most small and mid-size commercial projects are installed in a few days once materials arrive. Larger warehouses and parking lots may be phased over one to two weeks.
